Firstly, a Happy New Year to all our customers.
With the start of 2022, maybe you are thinking of replacing your laptop? So what are your options ? Upgrading your laptop or buying new?
So, you switch your laptop on, and make a coffee while it slowly starts up. You login, then sit for five minutes with the circle of doom spinning around. The icons on the taskbar gradually. You remember when it ran fast a few years ago, frustrating? The you click on a program icon like Word and it takes that long to open you wonder if you had actually clicked on the icon or its stopped working. So what are your options?
You could update the old laptop with a SSD disk to improve the start-up speed, maybe a memory upgrade. However the remaining components remain old and worn and can’t be upgraded. Or you could put that cash towards a new laptop instead maybe?
What are the advantages of a new laptop over an old one?
1 – Windows 11 Operating system
Firstly, a new laptop will run the latest Windows 11, the old laptop if pre 2018 will not be able to upgrade, and will be stuck on Windows 10 until it runs out of support.
2 – Weight and size, battery life
A new laptop is usually upto 40% lighter than old laptops and a lot slimmer too. It also has a greatly improved battery life due to lower power consumption components.
3 - Laptop screen improvements
New screens are usually IPS or OLED, over the old LCD screens, giving a brighter, clearer picture with a much thinner frame (bezel).
4 - Improved Hardware Spec
Newer and improved CPU’s, integrated Graphics and SSD disks result in greatly improved Windows Start-up speed, plus faster performance for Programs and Apps
The Wi-Fi Network Card is faster, has a greater range. USB3 ports are much faster too than USB2 ones.
So, there you have it, old vs new and think of all those coffees you could save on, all that time you could save hanging around if you decide to buy new!
