Windows 10 May 2004 Update suffers from a serious flaw whereby some users are losing their internet connectivity, Microsoft has admitted. So for those of you in Holmfirth and Huddersfield with LTE laptops, thinking your laptop may need repairing, a quick fix is available now.
Microsoft has now blocked the May 2020 Update from being delivered to devices which use certain LTE modems, after multiple reports of the upgrade causing the mobile internet connection to drop out. LTE Laptops, are usually lightweight laptops such as the Microsoft Surface, HP Spectre x360, that have a 4G SIM built in and so are called always on as they have a permanent connection to the internet, whether your in the office or not.
Microsoft have confirmed that after waking from sleep or hibernation, certain WWAN LTE modems might show no internet in the Network Connectivity Status Indicator (NCSI) in the notification area and might be unable to connect to the internet. The simple workaround is to put your laptop into Airplane mode and then switch it off should restore connectivity. In the longer term a permanent fix for the 2004 Windows update should be available at then end of September 2020.
