The Windows 7 End of Life date has been announced by Microsoft to be: January 14, 2020 – (even sooner for those who don’t download a recent security update). This means Microsoft will no longer update or support the operating system after that date.
Your PC will become more vulnerable to security risks. Windows will operate but you will stop receiving security and feature updates.
Support for Internet Explorer on Windows 7 devices will also be discontinued on January 14, 2020. As a component of Windows operating system, Internet Explorer follows the same support lifecycle.
Windows 7 is a decade old on July 22, 2019 – and it’s still very popular, with some reports suggesting that Windows 7 is still being used on 39% of all PCs!
So for those of you with Windows 7 PC or laptops, it is time now to look at moving to a new computer with Windows 10 on. Some recent computers with Windows 7 may be able to be upgraded but in most instances a new computer is recommended particularly as Windows 10 requires a more powerful and faster hardware.
